Roland Stanbridge, Sweden

Having worked as the local correspondent for various publications (including New African, Africa Now, and The Guardian, London) in Sweden, South African born Roland Stanbridge returned to South Africa between 1995 and 2000 developing the New Media Laboratory and the Highway Africa series of conferences at Rhodes University. His focus is on new technology and the news media. He now teaches courses for international journalists at both Örebro and Stockholm universities.

Professor Rune Ottosen, Norway

Rune Ottosen graduated in journalism in 1973 (Norwegian College of Journalism) and in Political Science in 1984 (University of Oslo). He has worked for many years as a journalist in various Norwegian media. From 1984-89 he was engaged as a lecturer and research fellow at the Norwegian College of Journalism. From 1989 -1993 he worked as Information Director and Research Fellow at the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO) where he was in charge of the research project "Enemy Images in Norwegian Media Since the Thaw in East-West Relations". From 1994-1996 he worked as a research fellow at the Norwegian Journalist Federation writing the professional history of Norwegian journalists. Since 1996 he has worked as associate professor at the Journalist education, Oslo College and became professor in the same institution in July 1999.

Ullamaija Kivikuru is professor in journalism at the Swedish School of Social Science, University of Helsinki (SSKH). In in 2002-03 she worked as a senior research fellow of the Academy of Finland, and she has as a side obligation the role of the head of research for FISS. Her instruction and research focus on two areas, journalism and international communication, especially development communication, and she has worked and done research in Eastern and Southern Africa as a journalism educator and researcher.
