Admission requirements

To be eligible for the Ma in Global Journalism you must hold a "kandidatexamen" (Bachelors Degree) of at least 180 ECTS within the fields of Humanities or Social Sciences, or an equivalent foreign degree. In addition, knowledge equivalent to "English Course B" from the Upper Secondary School is required.

Students with a foreign degree whose first language is not English have to document their proficiency in English by submitting results from an internationally recognised test of the English language, such as IELTS or TOEFL. Some students may be exempt from submitting formal test evidence.

Selection criteria

The places on the programme are distributed to eligible applicants in the following selection groups:
a) studies in journalism (20 percent of the places)
b) work experience in journalism (20 percent of the places)
c) international work experience in journalism (50 percent of the places)
d) other eligible applicants (10 percent of the places)

The places within the different selection groups are distributed based on the following merits (as they stand on the last application date):
a) number of higher education credits in the main field (Media and communication studies or corresponding fields).
b) number of years in the profession
c) number of years in the profession
d) total number of higher education credits
