About the programme

Programme objectives

The general aim is for students to develop their capability for high-quality reporting on international events; to broaden their understanding of how media function in different parts of the world and under specific circumstances; and to handle media-related modern information and communication technology skills.

Special features of the MA in Global Journalism

The course venue is modelled on a modern multi-media newsroom with capacity to monitor a wide variety of international TV broadcasts, as well as Internet-based media. The venue has full digital editing possibilities, and expert lecturers from around the world interacts with students using state-of-the-art communications technologies.

Nordic cooperation

The programme is given in cooperation with the universities in Helsinki and Tampere (Finland) and the the Journalism programme at the University College in Oslo (Norway). Some courses during the first year are given in Finland and Norway, and studets can then choose to take part of their second year in either Sweden, Finland or Norway depending on their specific field of interest.
